Hungry-Man debuted in 1973 and positions its frozen dinners as satisfying for people with large appetites. Eight meals were evaluated using flavor and texture of each component, portion size, and whether the meals felt filling enough to satiate a “Hungry Man.” Salisbury Steak ranked last after disappointing mashed potatoes, canned-tasting green beans, and a dry, cakey brownie. The meat resembled a thin hamburger patty, while the gravy showed visible grease spots, was gelatinous, and had little flavor.
