"Before this, she ran the since-closed French restaurant Eve, also in Ann Arbor. The expansion location made sense for her. "I was born in New York with longstanding family ties to Brooklyn," she writes via a rep. "It is especially fun and meaningful to be able to see the many enthusiastic University of Michigan alumni from our Frita community in Ann Arbor and welcome them.""
"Fritas are Cuban burgers with shoestring fries on soft buns; the restaurant will offer spiced patties like chorizo, black bean, and ground fluke ($15 for single patties, $18 for double). And then, batidos, Cuban milkshakes, which will include $7 flavors like coconut cream, hibiscus, and passionfruit; $8 chocolate and cajeta; and a mango-crushed ice-ice cream combination called the Lighter Batido ($7) with an optional dark rum shot for a $2.50 add-on."
Frita Batidos opens its first out-of-state location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, at 334 Kent Avenue on October 29. Founder and chef Eve Aronoff Fernandez launched the original Ann Arbor Frita Batidos in 2010 and expanded to Detroit in 2019. The menu centers on fritas—Cuban-style burgers topped with shoestring fries—and batidos, tropical Cuban milkshakes, plus plantain sides, loaded snacks, and desserts. Offerings include spiced patties such as chorizo, black bean, and ground fluke, batido flavors like coconut cream and hibiscus, and add-on options such as a dark rum shot. Price points range from small snacks to double patties around $18.
