A New Soho Pub Will Serve Stargazy Pie, Guinness, and English Wines - No Reservations Required
"Dean's doesn't demand a lot from you. The beauty of a pub is that it is unassuming; it's the backdrop to all of these different moments. That energy echoes New York's sensibility."
"Most of Dean's 38 seats will be saved for walk-ins, with banquettes, bar stools, counter seats, and even standing room for vertical drinking, per Shi, a very big part of pub culture."
Dean's, a new British seafood pub, opens March 31 at 213 Sixth Avenue in Soho, created by chef Jess Shadbolt and beverage director Annie Shi from King and Jupiter. The 38-seat venue prioritizes walk-ins over reservations, featuring banquettes, bar stools, counter seating, and standing room for vertical drinking. Named after Dean Fryer, a dayboat fisherman from Suffolk where Shadbolt is from, the restaurant embodies pub culture's unassuming nature. Shadbolt and head chef Angeles Chavarria have developed a seafood-focused menu including stargazy pie. Dean's joins other British establishments like Sailor, Lord's, Dame, Dead Rabbit, and Hawksmoor in expanding New York's British dining scene.
