Ten people went on trial in Paris accused of online harassment of French First Lady Brigitte Macron, linked to unsubstantiated claims about her gender. The defendants, eight men and two women aged 41 to 60, are accused of cyber-harassment for asserting she was born a man and labeling her 24-year age gap with President Emmanuel Macron as paedophilia. The Macrons filed a defamation lawsuit in the United States at the end of July. The chief judge said the defendants' posts, which gained traction online and racked up tens of thousands of views, caused deterioration in the first lady's physical and mental health. Defendants include Delphine Jegousse (Amandine Roy) and Aurelien Poirson-Atlan (Zoe Sagan), alongside an elected official, a teacher and a computer scientist.
