"The French government has launched a consultation to gather the public's views on parenthood and policies related to parenthood, in an effort to understand declining fertility rates. The goal of the report is to "target the economic and socio-cultural causes that have led to a decline in the birth rate in France, but also to understand the related consequences," MP Constance de Pélichy told the French press. Anyone can take the survey (which is entirely in French)."
"First, you enter your name and email address, then you receive a link to the survey by email. The survey is anonymous, but it will still ask you demographic information (household income, sex, age, size of city/town, whether you live in mainland France, abroad or in an overseas territory). Then, you will be asked questions about your plans to have (or not have) children, as well as your opinions regarding access to fertility-related healthcare and government financial assistance for child-rearing."
The French government opened a public consultation to collect citizen views on parenthood and policies tied to declining fertility. The survey is available on the Assemblée nationale website until December 4th and responses will inform a government report due in January 2026. Participation requires a name and email to receive the survey link, but responses are submitted anonymously and include demographic questions. Survey topics include plans for having children, access to fertility healthcare, government financial support for child-rearing, and concerns about the future such as climate change and the sustainability of the French model.
