30,000 boxes of heart and blood pressure tablets recalled in France
Briefly

France's national medicines authority, the ANSM, has recalled over 30,000 boxes of Lisinopril, a drug used for treating high blood pressure, due to a printing defect. The issue relates to potentially confusing instructions on blister packs, which may lead patients to take too many tablets, posing risks like fatigue and hypotension. Affected batches include specific batch numbers and expiration dates. While the quality of the tablets remains assured, patients are advised to return the affected boxes to pharmacies for safety precautions.
We have been informed by the Viatris laboratory of a printing defect on the blister packs of several batches of Lisinopril 5mg breakable tablets, which may lead to a risk of overdose. The inscription on the aluminium blister pack may be confusing, as it suggests that several tablets should be taken on certain days.
According to the ANSM, risks in the event of an overdose include fatigue, balance problems, hypotension, and impaired kidney function.
