Macron began a three-country East Africa tour in Egypt, continuing to Kenya and Ethiopia. He will cohost the Africa Forward summit in English-speaking Kenya with African leaders and business executives, aiming to redefine France’s role through closer cooperation. Agreements between French and Kenyan companies are planned to strengthen economic and commercial ties. The visit will be the first Anglophone-country summit attended by Macron since 2017. In Addis Ababa, he will meet Ethiopian officials and participate in talks at the African Union headquarters on peace and security in Africa. The tour seeks to repair economic and security relationships and counter rising anti-French sentiment amid political instability, coups, and competition from other powers.
