Fundraising appeal for Cork postman who died after attack outside home
"It's impossible to comprehend the pain that Katie and the boys are enduring. Barry was known to everyone as a funny, kind and caring man - a loyal friend, a loving partner, and an incredible father. He was deeply dedicated to his job which he loved with An Post and took immense pride in providing for his family. Above all, he cherished every moment with his children: Jayden (17), Jaxon (10), Archie (9), and Bodhi (2)."
"Ten years ago, their world was turned upside down when Jaxon, at just three days old, was rushed into intensive care and diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. Katie and Barry never left his side, and thanks to their strength and prayers, Jaxon pulled through. However, the illness left lasting effects - brain damage on the left side causing speech and learning difficulties."
Barry Daly, 44, was pronounced dead at Rockview Terrace in Doneraile, Co Cork on October 12. Three people have been charged in connection with his murder. Friends and supporters established a fund titled 'Love and Support for Katie and the Boys' to assist Barry's partner, Katie O'Reilly, and their four children. Almost €19,000 of a €50,000 target was raised within 48 hours. Barry is described as a devoted father and An Post employee who provided for his family. Their son Jaxon suffered bacterial meningitis as an infant and has lasting brain damage, requiring lifelong care and therapies.
