Samsung shows off its trifold phone in person
"After long insisting that it will release its first trifold phone this year, Samsung has gotten one step closer by showing off a version of the hardware at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, being held this week in Korea. No-one's allowed to touch it though (let alone fold it), and Samsung is staying coy about whether this is a final version of the hardware or not."
"The trifold is on display in a glass case in both its folded and unfolded states. An animation shows off how the device folds between those forms, but the actual hardware is strictly static. As rumored, both sides seem to fold inwards together like a "G," rather than the accordion-style folds of the Huawei Mate XT, now in its second generation."
Samsung displayed a trifold phone prototype at the APEC summit in Korea, showing both folded and unfolded states inside a glass case without public interaction. The hardware was static while an animation illustrated the folding motion. Both sides appear to fold inwards together in a "G" style rather than using an accordion-style mechanism like the Huawei Mate XT. Samsung has not named the device or confirmed that the shown unit is release-ready. An unnamed spokesperson described the showcase as reflecting ongoing R&D and said the company plans to bring the next-generation device to users within the year. Samsung's display division previously revealed trifold concepts, including at MWC 2025.
