In a significant move, the German government has banned the Reich citizen group, a far-right extremist organization known as the Kingdom of Germany, due to its attempts to undermine democracy. Following police operations across several states, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that these individuals created a 'counter-state' and exhibited antisemitic beliefs. This action emphasizes the government's commitment to defending democratic structures against extremism and maintaining order in the face of rising far-right ideologies.
The so-called Reich citizen, or Reichsbürger movement, does not recognize Germany as a state. Many of them claim that the historical German Reich still exists.
Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated, "Members of this association have created a counter-state in our country and built up economic criminal structures," underscoring the group's extremist nature.
