As a player representing Denmark, the author reflects on their journey back to FC Midtjylland, the club where they started over 20 years ago. They spent time coaching young girls aged 8-13, emphasizing the positive development in women's football. Unlike the author's experience with limited opportunities, today's girls are benefiting from structured training and support. The author expresses satisfaction in being a role model and witnessing the improved talent and quality of young female players, recognizing that many opportunities exist now that were not available in their own youth.
It's crazy to think about how much talent was wasted. Now, these girls can play and train in the city they come from and the setups around them are of a much higher quality.
For me to go back as a role model these girls gives me a lot of energy. There is no better way to ground yourself than to be reminded where you came from.
