"I don't think we would've made the trade if we didn't think he could be healthy and consistent in terms of being in the lineup," Kerr said. "That's the plan."
"When he's right, he's a helluva player," Kerr said. "You're looking at a guy who really fits what we need -- size, space, shooting, rim protection. Every team needs that, but we've always needed that since we've been here. We've never had a player quite like him."
The Warriors expect Kristaps Porzingis to join the team in Los Angeles on Friday ahead of Saturday's game against the Lakers. Medical clearance for immediate return to play appears unlikely for the Lakers game, though a return to the rotation is anticipated soon. Porzingis has appeared in 17 games this season while managing postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and recent left Achilles tendinitis. The Warriors' medical staff, led by their lead medical decision maker, performed due diligence and green-lit the acquisition with confidence. The team pursued Giannis Antetokounmpo before pivoting to Porzingis because of contract timing and roster fit. Porzingis provides size, spacing, shooting, and rim protection.
