Warriors add former Bay Area prep star to roster, G-League standout joins Wiseman for FIBA
"Golden State announced it was signing Jeenathan Nate Williams, 27, on Tuesday morning. With Pat Spencer now on a standard contract, the Warriors had space to sign Williams to a contract that will likely see him spend most of his time with Santa Cruz's G-League SeaDubs. He spent his senior year of high school at Prolific Prep, then located in Napa, where Williams averaged 15.8 points per game. He then went on to play at Buffalo."
"Williams has averaged 3.9 points per game in 47 games played with the Blazers and Rockets, but has spent most of his pro career in the G-League. The 6-foot-5 guard has averaged 18.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 35 starts for the Long Island Nets this season. While Williams will join Santa Cruz, the G-League team will see starting wing Taevion Kinsey temporarily depart."
"Kinsey will join the USA's FIBA World Cup qualifying team, who will play the Dominican Republic on Feb. 26 and Mexico on Mar. 1 in Oceanside, Calif. He is not the only former Warrior gracing the FIBA roster. Former No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman is also on the team. Wiseman is currently an unsigned free agent. Kinsey, 25, averages 16.0 points per game for Santa Cruz. Kinsey was also part of the Warriors' training camp after playing for their Summer League squad."
Jeenathan Nate Williams, 27, signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors and will likely spend most of his time with Santa Cruz's G-League SeaDubs. The roster move was possible after Pat Spencer moved to a standard NBA contract, opening a spot. Williams averaged 15.8 points as a senior at Prolific Prep and played collegiately at Buffalo before entering the NBA as an undrafted free agent. He has averaged 3.9 points in 47 NBA games but has been prolific in the G-League, posting 18.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 35 starts for the Long Island Nets. Santa Cruz will temporarily lose starter Taevion Kinsey to USA FIBA World Cup qualifying play, where former Warrior James Wiseman also appears on the roster.
