The Catalyst Professorship was introduced by the Office of the Provost in 2024 to enhance collaboration between academia and industry. Three Harvard faculty members, Doug Melton, Boaz Barak, and Michael Brenner, have been appointed to this role. The professorship supports academic excellence and acknowledges faculty ambitions to drive progress. It allows distinguished faculty to pursue external opportunities while fulfilling their teaching responsibilities. The program is open to individuals of high academic distinction across various disciplines, including emerging fields like artificial intelligence and biotechnology.
