The Community Geography Lab in Ohio organized a resident-driven mapping project in Kent’s South End to map historical Census data. Three mapping workshops in Summer 2025 allowed residents to research the history of their homes and to print and place 3D houses on a collective map. The houses were modeled in the open-source software Blender to approximate appearances across the decades represented. Locations were estimated using Sanborn Maps, and styles were identified by comparing surviving houses. Demolished or absent houses were represented with a generic monopoly-style house. The effort integrated archival maps, resident knowledge, and digital fabrication for tangible historical visualization.
