Google confirmed that a fraudulent account was created in its Law Enforcement Request System (LERS) portal and that the account has been disabled. Google stated that no requests were made and no data was accessed. BreachForums posts by Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters claimed access to Google LERS and to the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The FBI declined to comment on those claims. Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters comprises alleged members of Scattered Spider, ShinyHunters, and Lapsus$. The group claimed responsibility for multiple attacks and posted a goodbye message saying they have decided to go dark and will enjoy accumulated funds.
