Lily Collins and her husband Charlie McDowell recently sold their midcentury modern Pasadena residence known as Case Study House #10 for $6.13 million. The house, designed by Kemper Nomland Sr. and Jr., is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the last remaining Pasadena Case Study home. It includes 3,425 square feet of living space with four bedrooms, minimalistic architecture, and an open-plan layout. The couple added modern touches through interior designer Emily Farnham while respecting the home’s historical roots.
The wood-paneled residence was designed in 1947 by father-son architect duo Kemper Nomland Sr. and Kemper Nomland Jr. Collins and McDowell purchased the dwelling in 2021 for $3.9 million.
The four-bedroom home spans 3,425 square feet and features classic midcentury details, including post-and-beam construction, minimalist lines, and a floating staircase.
The house is reportedly the sole remaining Pasadena Case Study home, currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The couple enlisted Los Angeles-based interior designer Emily Farnham to revamp the residence in a "respectful" and "midcentury California meets Scandi" style.
