Florida authorities search for truck driver who vandalized rainbow intersection
Briefly

A rainbow-colored intersection in Delray Beach, South Florida was vandalized again by a Black pickup truck that made multiple burnouts on the LGBTQ Pride mural. The incidents occurred on June 17 during Pride Month. This marks the third vandalism of the mural since its installation in 2021. Previous incidents included arrests and court-ordered damages for the vandals. Police are currently seeking to identify the driver from the recorded incidents. This sequence of events coincided with charges against individuals in Georgia for similar hate crimes and criticism from a government official regarding rainbow crosswalks.
Delray Beach Police released video of a Black pickup truck stopping on top of an LGBTQ Pride mural at Northeast 1st Street and 2nd Avenue and making multiple intentional burnouts.
This is the third time the mural has been vandalized since its installation in 2021, including on the first day that the painted intersection was unveiled.
Police are still trying to identify the driver of the vehicle seen vandalizing the rainbow crosswalk, which was damaged on June 17, during Pride Month.
The incident occurred shortly before U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy criticized rainbow crosswalks as 'distractions' to drivers.
