Trans athlete sues Princeton after being banned from women's race
Briefly

Sadie Schreiner, a transgender athlete and former Rochester Institute of Technology sprinter, has sued Princeton University alleging her rights were violated. The lawsuit claims she was barred from competing in the final heat of the Larry Ellis Invitational track meet, only 15 minutes before the race. Princeton Athletics Director John Mack is accused of removing her from the 200-meter race knowing her transgender status. The lawsuit cites a violation of New Jersey's Law Against Discrimination and claims emotional and physical harm caused by the officials' actions.
The actions of the two Princeton officials were in blatant and willful disregard of Sadie's rights based on Sadie's rights as a transgender woman under controlling New Jersey law, thereby causing Sadie Schreiner to foreseeable emotional and physical harm.
Gender identity and expression is a protected status under the NJLAD. As included in the complaint, it is unlawful discrimination for any person to aid, abet, incite, compel or coerce the doing of any acts forbidden under the NJLAD.
