J. Riccardo Benavides, founder and creative director of Ideas Event in San Francisco, was ambushed and robbed of his luxury watch in Mayfair, London just after 3.30am on Saturday, October 18. Three suspects stalked him as he stepped from a black taxi outside the Cavalry & Guards Club; two attackers pounced while a third stood poised by the hotel. Mr Benavides fought back, filmed his reaction to CCTV footage and posted an Instagram warning to fellow travellers. He noted the hotel had cameras and cited that London police say watch thefts are common in Mayfair. The Metropolitan Police were approached for comment.
