Tickets Alert: A winter light trail returns to Chelsea
"The Christopher Wren designed Royal Hospital Chelsea, famously home to the Chelsea Pensioners, is opening its grounds this winter for a nighttime light trail. The wooded Ranelagh Gardens next to the open lawns will be filled with winter lights throughout December. And as you'd expect from a winter lights trail, there's a food court at the end. The food bit is free to visit, and you don't need tickets, but the Chelsea Winter Illuminations trail is a paid-for area that requires tickets."
"They've gone for a fairly complicated pricing scheme, with four price ranges depending on what day and time of day you visit. So prices range from "super off-peak" at £15 per adult (£5 for children) to £24.95 for peak rate adults (£17.50 for children). Note - the super off peak rates tend to be later in the evenings, often from 8pm, so maybe ideal after a few pints in the pub."
Royal Hospital Chelsea's grounds and wooded Ranelagh Gardens will host the Chelsea Winter Illuminations nighttime light trail throughout December. The trail runs from Wednesday 26th November to Sunday 28th December 2025, with gates open daily from 4:30pm to 8pm/8:30pm; the illuminations trail closes at 10pm and the Winter Village closes at 11pm. The illuminations trail requires paid tickets with four price bands from super off-peak at £15 per adult (£5 children) to peak at £24.95 per adult (£17.50 children). A free-to-access food court sits at the trail end; entrance is via London Gate, about a ten-minute walk from Soane Square tube station.
