Blue Note, a legendary jazz venue originally established in Greenwich Village in 1981, has received approval to open a new location in London after navigating licensing challenges with Westminster Council. Despite initial opposition citing crime concerns, the venue's license was granted, allowing it to operate until 1am on weekdays and midnight on Sundays. The London location, situated in the basement of the St Martins Lane Hotel, is expected to host jazz performances and dining, contributing to the city's vibrant nightlife and music scene.
"We're excited to be coming to London and grateful to Westminster Council for recognising what Blue Note can bring to the city's nightlife. As we prepare to open in early 2026, we're looking forward to bringing world-class jazz and a deep cultural legacy to one of the greatest music cities in the world."
After a licensing application faced opposition from local authorities, Westminster Council has now granted Blue Note a full license, clearing the way for the venue's operations.
