Man dies after fire rips through home in south east London

A man has died following a fire at a home on Bishops Avenue in Bromley, southeast London. Firefighters received the call at 5.46pm and managed to control the blaze in just over half an hour, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual was treated for smoke inhalation. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire. In a separate incident hours earlier, approximately 80 firefighters dealt with a fire in Sidcup that resulted in significant damage to a building under renovation but no injuries were reported.
Firefighters were called to a house fire on Bishops Avenue in Bromley at 5.46pm on Tuesday. The fire was brought under control in just over half an hour but a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The London Fire Brigade said a man was also treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service after suffering from smoke inhalation.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Beckenham, Sidcup and Old Kent Road Fire Stations rushed to the scene. The cause of the fire is being investigated by firefighters.
Hours earlier, around 80 firefighters also tackled a fire in Sidcup after a building that was under renovation caught fire.
