Former Dodgers Pitcher Julio Urias Looking to Continue Career as Suspension Ends This Week
Briefly

Julio Urias's suspension for domestic violence ends Wednesday, allowing him to be eligible to sign with a Major League Baseball team. He was suspended for the first half of the 2025 season due to a September 2023 incident. After being placed on administrative leave, Urias has not pitched since the end of the 2023 season. His agent reported that he is preparing to resume his career, with options available as he enters free agency. Despite a challenging 2023 season, Urias had standout performances in 2021 and 2022, ranking highly in Cy Young voting.
Urias was suspended for the first half of the 2025 season for a domestic violence incident that occurred in September 2023 outside BMO Stadium following an LAFC game.
Urias has not pitched - in MLB or anywhere else - since then. He is now set to be reinstated off the restricted list, and his agent, Scott Boras, said he has some options as he enters free agency.
In 2021 and 2022, Urias emerged as one of baseball's best pitchers, finishing seventh and third in Cy Young voting, respectively.
He went 20-3 with a 2.96 ERA in 2021, and 17-7 with a 2.16 ERA in 2022.
