The Eames House in L.A. is open again after closing during the fires
Briefly

The Eames House in Los Angeles reopened after a five-month closure due to smoke damage from the Palisades Fire. Intensive cleanup efforts were required, including removing flame retardant and replacing contaminated soil. The house underwent proactive fireproofing measures since 2011, especially following previous fires. The reopening events aimed to connect the house with the local community, providing space for library events and gatherings. The house was spared from the fire, underscoring its resilience and the effectiveness of ongoing preservation efforts.
We were very fortunate. The home is a model of resilience, but its stewards were also proactive...At that point it became very clear that there were going to be an increasing number of extremely damaging fires.
Reopening events this month with local leaders, neighbors, and fire survivors have turned the Eames House into an Eames home for the community.
