Matthew Stafford, 38, must continue performing at an elite level for the Rams during a critical season with their Super Bowl window open. The Rams selected former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th pick, a move that stunned many and was described as potentially controversial. Stafford said he understands the team’s rationale and that the organization is working to be as good as possible “for now, for the future, for all of it.” The Rams did not draft a receiver such as former USC player Makai Lemon, who could have provided immediate impact. The Rams are considered favorites to return to the Super Bowl for the first time since Stafford led them to win Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium.
