""I'm not somebody that demands game time for just the sake of it," said Mata. "I really felt the energy in the club. I really felt that they wanted me here. I am driven and motivated to help this team win trophies and to work with the club as part of a longer-term plan to strengthen football in the country.""
Juan Mata, 37, has signed for Melbourne Victory after spending last season at Western Sydney Wanderers. He made just seven starts last season and has joined Victory wanting more playing time while stating he is not someone who demands game time for its own sake. Mata said he felt the club's energy, believed the club wanted him, and is driven to help win trophies and support a longer-term plan to strengthen football in the country. Mata won the 2010 World Cup and scored in Spain's 2012 European Championship final. His club career includes Valencia, Chelsea, Manchester United, Galatasaray and Vissel Kobe.
