Spotify launches Taste Profile editor
"Taste Profile aggregates a listener's behaviour across music, podcasts, and audiobooks into a single view: the genres explored recently, the artists listened to most, the patterns that define a listening day. Where a user notices the profile is wrong, too heavy on music they played years ago, or missing a phase they have been quietly working through, they can flag it."
"This is the next step in our vision to make personalization more transparent, responsive, and truly yours. Spotify cited an internal figure that more than 80% of its listeners name personalisation as what they value most about the service."
Spotify introduced Taste Profile, a new feature announced at SXSW that makes the platform's recommendation algorithm transparent and user-controllable. The feature aggregates listener behavior across music, podcasts, and audiobooks, displaying genres explored, most-listened artists, and listening patterns. Users can modify their profile by flagging inaccuracies, requesting more or less of particular vibes, and describing current contexts like training or commuting. The beta rollout begins with Premium subscribers in New Zealand. Spotify reports that over 80% of listeners value personalization as the service's primary benefit, positioning Taste Profile as the next evolution in transparent and responsive personalization.
