The Miami Dolphins signed veteran cornerback Cornell Armstrong, adding depth to a thin position group following an injury to Artie Burns. Armstrong last played in 2022 with the Atlanta Falcons, where he participated in nine games. He was a sixth-round draft pick by the Dolphins in 2018. After not making the roster in 2019, Armstrong played for the Houston Texans before spending the 2023 season on the Raiders' practice squad. His addition comes amid concerns regarding Artie Burns' knee injury sustained during practice.
Cornell Armstrong provides another veteran depth option to vie for a roster spot in a position group that's already thin and now ailing.
Armstrong last played in an NFL regular season game in 2022 with the Atlanta Falcons, appearing in nine games, starting four and breaking up seven passes.
Armstrong was a sixth-round pick of the Dolphins out of Southern Miss in 2018, the same class in which Minkah Fitzpatrick was selected.
The move comes after veteran cornerback Artie Burns injured his knee in Wednesday's first practice, fearing an ACL tear.
