Some lessons learned in childhood from family or society may no longer fit adult life. Letting go of these inherited rules can free people to change beliefs, behaviors, and relationships. Recognizing that most people are not the same and will not think or act like oneself reduces unmet expectations and interpersonal frustration. Personal growth often requires questioning long-held assumptions and embracing different perspectives. Individuals are encouraged to identify and unlearn obstructive lessons and to share their own experiences, anonymously if preferred, to support collective reflection and change.
