A Fitchburg man, Paul Corcoran, won $2 million by purchasing two identical Powerball tickets for the July 9 drawing. He mistakenly bought the second ticket, believing the final drawing of his first ticket had passed. Both tickets matched all five white balls, resulting in $1 million winnings each. Corcoran purchased his first ticket at Fitchburg Market Basket and the second at County Farms in Leominster. He claimed his winnings on July 11 at the Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters and has not yet made plans for the money.

Corcoran initially bought a ticket for seven Powerball drawings and mistakenly thought the final drawing on that ticket had already occurred, leading him to purchase another multi-draw ticket.
Both tickets matched all five white balls, for $1 million each before taxes.
Corcoran picked up his winnings at the Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester on July 11. He didn't have a plan yet for his winnings.
