Patrick Monahan won a substantial prize in the EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle held in May. He bought the winning ticket at Duffy's Costcutter on the Turlough Road in Castlebar minutes before the draw cut-off. He purchased two tickets and left the choice to a friend, who selected the right-hand ticket, leaving Monahan with the left-hand ticket that won. Monahan has more than 40 years of salon experience. He initially thought he had won €5,000 but discovered an extra €250,000. He plans to celebrate the win with the friend who shared in the ticket purchase. Mayo also recorded another major Lotto win exceeding €17 million.
