Webster officials have alerted residents about a potentially dangerous water monitor loose near Blueberry Lane. This large exotic lizard, native to Southeast Asia, can reach six to eight feet in length and weigh up to 100 pounds. Water monitors can be aggressive if threatened and their bites may carry bacteria leading to infections. Although they are not venomous, injuries can occur from their claws and tails. Residents are urged not to approach the lizard and to contact animal control or the police if spotted.
