The altercation began when Harris bumped Hueston from behind, prompting Hueston to push and swing at Harris. As referees, teammates, and staff attempted to separate the players, a referee was knocked to the ground and struck in the head or neck area. Medical personnel attended to the injured referee while a sheriff's deputy arrived at the scene. Eight players total were ejected from the game, including Harris and Hueston. South Alabama won the game 80-70.
