Oaklandside 510 is a weekly podcast delivering local news stories and insights for Oakland residents. The 15-minute episodes are released every Friday for three months, making them convenient for various daily routines. Each episode features news roundups and deeper conversations with reporters, addressing not only what occurs but also the importance for Oakland's citizens. The inaugural episode discusses Mayor Lee's response to President Trump's budget bill and includes community voices sharing experiences about meaningful social spaces in Oakland.
"We want to give our audience another way to stay up on the news, and hopefully provide extra context and analysis that doesn't always fit into the articles we publish online," editor-in-chief Tasneem Raja said.
In today's debut episode, listeners will hear from Oakland residents sharing stories about their "third places" - the social spaces beyond home and work where they find connection and renewal.
