Ikram Aliskerov's Corner Wasn't Happy with UFC 321 Performance
""Nothing I was doing was stopping him, he kept on pressing forward. Actually, my corner's not too happy with the way the fight happened," revealed Aliskerov. "To be honest the plan was to just not to pressure him, just to kind of feel him out, feel out the cage, try to figure out what's going on and not to force the action. This is kind of the plan that I worked on.""
""To be honest when I spar, when I train I spar with really good guys in my gym. Not guys that are worse than him, guys that really pressure you all three rounds, we work three rounds and I never get tired," he stated. "But with this guy, I'm telling you, I've never had an opponent like that. You hit him, he keeps moving forward. You punch him in the nose, his nose busts open, he still keeps pushing forward. You take him down, he gets up, he keeps pushing forward. I've never seen an opponent like that. You can find anybody to simulate that kind of opponent.""
Ikram Aliskerov earned a unanimous decision over Jun Yong Park at UFC 321 while some of his coaches expressed dissatisfaction with his performance. Khabib Nurmagomedov reacted positively, but Aliskerov said his main coach was less happy. The game plan focused on not pressuring Park, feeling out the cage, and avoiding forcing action. Park applied continual forward pressure, absorbing strikes, enduring a busted nose, and repeatedly getting back up after takedowns, making him an unusually difficult opponent to simulate in sparring. The victory improves Aliskerov to 17-2 overall and 4-1 in the UFC. Aliskerov believes he executed the planned strategy.
