That changed when Viera did just that with about 90 seconds left in the round. Dumont briefly went belly down, nearly giving up her back. When she rolled, she had to contend with an arm-triangle choke, but Viera was high up. Still, she clamped down on it; Dumont "answered the phone" in defense, arm up alongside her head."

The opening round featured upright striking and occasional leg kicks before Vieira secured a late takedown and briefly threatened an arm-triangle while Dumont defended to the horn. In round two Vieira again changed levels, landed a double-leg, and controlled Dumont on her back for extended time. Dumont produced moments of striking and pressure but could not prevent Vieira's takedowns, allowing Vieira to swing close rounds in her favor.
