"A YouTuber named Michi NekoMichi recently posted a slow-motion video that recorded him typing the phrase "thumbs up" on his iPhone keyboard. The video showed that even when the correct key was pressed, the phone would enter the wrong character, typically one surrounding the key he pressed. For example, typing the letter u would insert the letter y or h instead, while typing the letter m would insert the letter n."
"Among the more than 9,600 comments that NekoMichi received in response to his video, many users revealed that they had encountered the same problem. People on X and Reddit have also weighed in with similar complaints. Some have blamed the glitch on getting older and not using the keyboard as efficiently as in the past. Others say it started happening after upgrading to iOS 26."
Typing on iPhone keyboards has produced more frequent mistakes, with wrong characters appearing even when the correct keys are pressed. A slow-motion recording showed taps registering neighboring letters, such as tapping u producing y or h, and tapping m producing n. Thousands of users reported the same issue across social platforms, with some attributing it to aging or reduced typing efficiency and others noting the problem began after upgrading to iOS 26. Turning off AutoCorrect did not eliminate the glitch in test cases, and the Predictive Text feature remains a possible factor contributing to increased typos.
