Nokia and HMD Global have begun to separate, removing Nokia-branded phones from HMD's website in favor of HMD-branded models. The company expressed openness to partnering with a large-scale mobile manufacturer to revive the Nokia brand in the smartphone market. Former licensing agreements with other tech sectors, like TVs and laptops, have also ended. While HMD struggles with scaling back US operations, Nokia has dismissed acquisition rumors and will soon report its Q2 2025 financial results, following a profit of €156 million in Q1 on €4.39 billion in sales.
Nokia and HMD Global started to part ways last year, which included de-listing Nokia-branded phones from hmd.com and replacing most with corresponding HMD-branded models.
The Nokia brand may live on in the phone world if the Finnish company finds another partner, as they are open to collaborating with a large scale mobile manufacturer.
