"In Choral Season 25-26 Part I you learned about some of the great choral concerts ahead for the month of September and a few of the special events and anniversary celebrations our choirs have in store for our communities. Doesn't the approaching fall look like a wonderful season of singing? It continues with works never heard in our region and works that you welcome back as old friends."
"Hear CIS in concert in Portland in the "The Genius of Josquin," a program first offered last spring in Salem on Willamette University's Goudy Distinguished Artist Series. Enjoy the way Josquin des Prez 's music, a turning point for Early Renaissance choral practice, paints and dances with text. Complex and spirited, Josquin is music to be enjoyed and relived in performance."
A vibrant choral season unfolds in September and October with concerts that include regional premieres and familiar repertoire. Portland's Cantores in Ecclesia marks decades of leadership in Western sacred choral literature and serves as resident choir at Holy Rosary Parish while also singing at St. Agatha's Catholic Church and in concert halls. Cantores completed a three-city Eastern Europe tour with performances including Adora te devote by Cecilia McDowall in Budapest, Prague, and Krakow. The Genius of Josquin program explores Josquin des Prez's influential Early Renaissance style, with scholar Kerry McCarthy providing commentary before an Oxford fellowship.
