Chappell Roan stepped onto the 2026 Grammys red carpet wearing a sheer, hooded Mugler gown that was later unfurled to reveal a maroon dress that appeared to be held up by a pair of nipple rings. She defended the outfit on Instagram, writing that she did not think it was particularly outrageous, calling the look 'awesome and weird' and recommending that people exercise their free will because it's fun and silly. Roan, last year's Best New Artist winner, presented the Best New Artist award to Olivia Dean during the ceremony. Her single 'The Subway' was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance but did not win.
