"The song, which is a reworking of the Dropkick Murphys' 2005 song 'Citizen C.I.A.,' appears on the veteran punk band's split album with Haywire, New England Forever, which arrives digitally on March 17th. The LP will exclusively be available in physical formats on Dropkick Murphys' upcoming St. Patrick's Day tour with Haywire, kicking off on February 9th. Haywire appear as a guest on the track."
"Previously, a portion of 'Citizen I.C.E' soundtracked a video that Dropkick posted on their Instagram page a few weeks ago highlighting the tragic killing of Renee Good by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. Since then, ICU nurse Alex Pretti was also slain in Minneapolis after being shot multiple times by ICE officers. The lyrics take aim at the qualifications of ICE officers in general, with the chorus, 'Too scared to join the military/ Too dumb to be a cop/ Citizen I.C.E.'"
Dropkick Murphys released 'Citizen I.C.E.,' a reworking of their 2005 track 'Citizen C.I.A.,' as an explicit protest against ICE after deadly shootings in Minneapolis. The song appears on the split album New England Forever with Haywire, arriving digitally March 17 and available physically during the band's St. Patrick's Day tour beginning February 9. A portion of the song accompanied an Instagram video highlighting the killing of Renee Good; ICU nurse Alex Pretti was later also killed by ICE officers. The lyrics attack ICE officer qualifications, include a confrontational chorus, and feature Haywire as a guest.
