Noah Weiland to Perform Show Honoring Scott Weiland on 10th Anniversary of Singer's Death
"My old therapist gave me the idea to throw a party, get-together for my father. I didn't even realize it was about to be 10 years until he brought it up. My brain started cooking ideas up instantly."
"Considering we thought of this whole thing and locked it in two weeks ago, I got a whole lot of rehearsals, AA meetings, and praying to do. I'm keeping [the setlist a] surprise. Just expect hits from different eras and even some deep cuts, underrated songs. I'll definitely do a solo song or two of my own tunes, but they will be more rock and grunge based to fit the vibe of the show."
"I can honestly say I've had a very tough posthumous relationship with my father. Most of my life I grew up on rap music, but I always go through deep phases of listening to other genres. Lately, it's been mostly rock bands that I have been tapped in with again, and I definitely have a place in my heart for my dad's music."
Noah Weiland will perform Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver songs on December 3 at the Garden Amp outdoor amphitheater in Orange County to mark the tenth anniversary of Scott Weiland's death. The 24-year-old has made music with the defunct band Suspect208 and as a solo artist and has previously covered STP's "Sex Type Thing" and Velvet Revolver's "Slither." The set will include hits and deep cuts from different eras plus one or two of Noah's own rock- and grunge-based songs. The backing band includes Carr Reed, Miles Christian Davis, and Connor J Sears, and Jakob Nowell will also appear.
