"Spanish figure skater Tomàs-Llorenç Guarino Sabaté said Tuesday that he may be able to skate his Minions-themed program at the Olympics after all. He shared on Instagram that Universal is allowing him to use the music from its popular animated franchise for the "special occasion" and said he is working to clear the remaining hurdles. "There are still a couple things to be tied up with the other 2 musics of the program but we are so close to accomplishing it!""
Tomàs-Llorenç Guarino Sabaté had skated the entire season to a Minions-themed short program while dressed in blue overalls and a yellow shirt. He was informed a week before the Milan-Cortina opening ceremony that a medley of Minions music could not be used at the Olympics because of copyright issues, forcing a potential last-minute program change. Universal has now given permission for the music for the "special occasion," and Guarino Sabaté is working to clear remaining hurdles and tie up issues with two other pieces in the program.
