Drag Race bosses confirm movie and Broadway show are on the way
Briefly

Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, the producers of RuPaul's Drag Race, announced plans for a Broadway musical and feature film based on the show. Since its debut in 2019, the Drag Race franchise, which has expanded to numerous spin-offs and international versions, has significantly influenced pop culture. With the live show gaining immense popularity in Las Vegas and a 30% increase in audition submissions amidst societal challenges, the franchise is thriving. Upcoming projects include potential new international franchised versions, including Japan and South Africa, but details are still under wraps.
"We had a 30% increase in auditions. There's been growth every single year since the franchise started," Barbato revealed.
"I guess it's no secret, there's an untitled Drag Race movie coming. It's shooting in Los Angeles; we're keeping it local," Bailey said.
"Drag Race: Live just celebrated its 1000th show and we are taking that and developing it for stage, ideally Broadway and London," Barbato teased.
"We were thinking about starting in the West End, but f**k it, let's just go to Broadway," he said.
