The couple has been dating since approximately 2022 and publicly confirmed their relationship at the 2024 Met Gala. According to Page Six, they were overheard discussing their engagement at the Mark Hotel before attending Monday's Met Gala event. Cowan designed both their outfits for the gala, featuring 255,000 crystals and beads with 2,000 hours of hand sewing, inspired by Russian-French art deco designer Erté. Neither has officially commented on the engagement reports.
