Bojangles, a Southern food chain known for chicken, biscuits, and tea, is expanding to New York City with plans for 20 locations in the five boroughs. The first location will open this winter in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. This expansion marks the chain's return to NYC since the 1980s. CEO Jose Armario expressed excitement about reintroducing Bojangles to the East Coast, noting a demand for its authentic Southern offerings. The expansion is being led by the Hashimi Holding Corporation under a 20-unit franchise agreement. This trend follows other nostalgic brands returning to the city.
"It's a monumental moment, now that we're entering the New York metropolitan area again," Bojangles CEO Jose Armario said in a press release.
"The East Coast is craving the authentic, Southern charm that Bojangles delivers, and we're excited to introduce locals to something new."
Bojangles announced plans to open 20 locations across the five boroughs over the next decade and another 35 in New Jersey.
