It will feature a collection of Curtis artifacts that is held by the John Rylands Library at the University of Manchester as part of the British Pop Archive. Among the items set to be on display are handwritten lyrics, photographs, and personal letters, with much of the material making its stateside debut."
The Voltz Clarke Gallery in New York City will host "Ian Curtis: Insight," a free exhibition running from June 25 through July 22, featuring rare archival materials from the late Joy Division frontman. The collection, held by the John Rylands Library at the University of Manchester as part of the British Pop Archive, includes handwritten lyrics, photographs, personal letters, record collections, book collections, fan letters, and ephemera. Most items are making their stateside debut. The exhibition celebrates Curtis as a seminal figure in UK popular culture and post-punk history. The timing coincides with Joy Division and New Order's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with the ceremony scheduled for November 14 in Los Angeles.
