Tasha Launches Album With New Song Featuring L'Rain and Jamila Woods
"'Clarion' came together on a long drive between New York and Chicago. I repeatedly took note of a sign for the Pennsylvania town of Clarion and thought to myself, 'That would make a great name for a song.' So I decided to make a song with that name. A song about coming and going, about wanting to change your life but not quite knowing how you're going to do it, but feeling suddenly on the edge of figuring it out."
"'Spring' was inspired by the Gwendolyn Brooks poem 'To the Young Who Want To Die.'"
Tasha's upcoming album, 'You Are Spring,' is set to release on June 26 through Bayonet. The album follows her previous work, 'All This and So Much More.' Two new songs, 'Spring' featuring L'Rain and Jamila Woods, and 'Clarion,' accompany the announcement. 'Clarion' was inspired by a sign seen during a drive and reflects themes of change and self-discovery. Tasha recorded the album in Los Angeles with producer Gregory Uhlmann, and 'Spring' draws inspiration from a Gwendolyn Brooks poem.
