Inna Vernikov expressed deep concerns over the potential election of socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani, fearing that such a leadership could lead to chaos, lawlessness, and an exodus of wealthy residents from New York City. She drew parallels between Mamdani's policies and communist Russia, recalling her past experiences in a socialist system. Vernikov criticized the idea of government-run initiatives, claiming they contradict the principles of a free-market economy, competition, and meritocracy. Her perspective suggests that Mamdani's policies threaten the foundational values of American capitalism.
"I think it's a very dangerous situation we're in. I think we're looking at a chaotic city with lawlessness," Vernikov stated regarding the implications of Mamdani's potential leadership.
"He wants government-run supermarkets. That is completely counter, runs completely counter to what America is supposed to be. America was built on the free market economy," Vernikov expressed.
"I think we're gonna see a lot of the wealthy and the middle class escape New York City," Vernikov suggested about potential demographic shifts under Mamdani.
"Capitalism is not perfect, but it's based on the idea of competition," Vernikov highlighted the fundamental principles at stake with Mamdani's policies.
